Abel N. Dugger married Lurany Holtsclaw on 4 Mar 1831 in Carter Co., TN.
They were listed on the 1840 census in neighboring Yancey Co., NC, though mistakenly listed as “Abram” Dugger. It is clearly the same person for he was listed there on the tax list of that same year as “Abel N. Dugger.” Analysis:
* Yancey Co., NC pg 275 Abram Dugger, 0010100000000-1010110000000
* 1 male 20-29 (1810/1820)=Abel N. Dugger (1808)
* 1 male 10-14 (1825/1830)=George W. Dugger (1830) son
* 1 female 30-39 (1800/1810)=Unknown
* 1 female 20-29 (1810/1820)=Lurany Holtsclaw Dugger (c1814) wife
* 1 female 10-14 (1825/1830)=Unknown
* 1 female 0-4 (1835/1840)=Nancy J. Dugger (c1839) daughter
They lived in the section of Yancey that became Watauga County in 1849 and Abel died there that same year.
Lurany and the children were were listed on the 1850 census in Johnson Co., TN.

I wasn’t able to find Lurany after 1850. I found her daughter Martha in Watauga Co., NC on the 1860 census. Her son George W. Dugger was also there.
The children of Abel N. Dugger were named in his father John Dugger's 1869 will though it didn’t specify who their parents were: “I desire that my grandson George W. Dugger and Elizabeth Angeline Dugger and Nancy Gaddy, wife of Charley Gaddy and Martha Green have ...”
They weren’t mentioned in the Will of Abel’s uncle William Dugger in 1872.
